Default A few s300 questions.

I picked up a p28 ECU with a Hondata s300 a couple weeks ago. So forgive me if my questions seem noob-ish. I am running a 99 Civic ex d16y8 with crower stage 2 camshaft. I have supertech valve springs/retainers, skunk2 IM, intake, dc header, apexi WS2 exhaust etc. My questions are (I did search and check out FAQ's):

1. Can I use a b16 knock sensor and wire it into the Hondata since the d16 doesnt come with one? If so, what exactly would I have to do?

2. Regarding a wideband, can I use an o2 sensor from a RSX as my wideband? My buddy says that RSX's come with OEM widebands. If not, I'll end up getting a PLX or AEM UEGO.

If anyone can help, I appreciate it!

Im pretty sure that your p2p harness (civic ex) should be wired for a stock knock sensor.

and I would recommend the AEM wideband. I dont think that ANY stock vehicles came with a stock wideband.

A P28 does not have the circuitry for knock control. To have knock control you would have to install the s300 into a P30, P72 or P61.

Thanks for the quick replies. I guess I'll bag the knock sensor idea for now since the p28 doesn't support it.

I guess it's time to start searching for a wideband! Thanks again guys!

I recommend the PLX widebands, I have 3 cars with one in each and they have been working perfectly now for over 5 years.

No, it would require a wideband driver.

How would I obtain a wideband driver, is that on the Hondata site? Would an oem vx/hx wideband + the driver exceed the cost of an AEM Uego gauge/wideband system?

Again, sorry for the noob questions. I appreciate all the info. you guys are giving me!

You cannot just use a sensor. You must use a wideband with a wideband controller. PLX Devices sells a complete kit that works great and is the only Wideband that Hondata Recommends.

Sounds good. Now, off to start saving for a wideband and controller!
