rumor has it some either have a dealers licences which has a umbrella insurance deal going. another bird told me register it in a diff state since some dont do inspections.. not sure if they end up switching to the state they live in later.
Some states allow RHD to be registered such as Nevada but I'd check your local laws with the DMV to see if you can register it in your state. The illegla VIN swap BS will just get your car crushed and you in jail.

You're in Canada. They sell RHD cars in some parts of Canada I believe. Importation for you should be no problem, as I know someone who imported an R32 who lived in Canada. Not sure was Provence, though. As for us in the states, it's a little harder.
it is legal, but to do it right is gonna cost you so much money, and effort you should just convert an us ek. i like in cali and have a RHD EG6, was going to import an ITR but decided not to here is why.
after spending 4 hours on the phone with DMV california i found you need,
1. DOT safty approval,
2.pass cali smog for the Us version
only these two things... thats not bad but then i was told how to get DOT certified,
you have to send your car to a "grey market" ref/inspection facilily (only 2 in CAli)
they will charge you a minimu of 4,000 to inspect car this includes taking off all body panels , ie fenders, bumpers to make sure the nessisary support beams are there, the doors checkin all lights and SRS pretty much going over it for any possible reason to reject it... now you think 4K for a RHD not bad but here is the lame part,
anything that the car does not have that meets a US civics dot specs must be fixed by the facility with all new OEM parts. so for my rhd integra i would have to have them put on A us airbags, seatbelts, gague cluster, have them find the proper bumper supports, a US harness, then switch the catilic converter, all new glass and then the extra charge to put the entire car back togeather... now all of that brand new ???? not worth it...
but if you really wanted to you could put all Us parts on it b4 the inspection and then only have to pay around 4k.. then just pass smog and your in!!!

I can promise you since you live in Canada that you can insure and register it. If your current insurance company does not insure RHD cars like mine, all you have to so is find one that does (believe there are some), or find an insurance broker who will. TONS of RHD cars here in Edmonton.

You can't bring an EK9 yet; the 15 year rule applies. They'll start to pop up around 2011...before then you're stuck with an EG6. If you bring an EK9 in now, customs will see it and tell you to either send it back or it will be crushed. There will be no importation paperwork from customs, and therefore no registration. There is no way around it..you can't say "but it's the same thing as the North American car", because it isn't, and customs definitely isn't stupid.
Yes, spend enough money to buy a Civic Type R, but don't make it legal and in fact break a few other laws in the process.
Really smart there.
If you want real answers for where you live, you're going to want to get a hold of your motor vehicle division and start asking questions. I'd suggest writing a list before they call you up.
