Removing weight off of the crank snout isnt a great idea. Lots of horror stories about them. They can lead to oil pump failure, main bearing wear, ect.

if you want a lighter pulley go with the hona ctr n1 pulley only! others cause balance problems

Myth:

Oil pump failure-There isnt a logical explanation to support those peoples claims.

Main bearing wear-Less weight on Crank=less bearing wear.

Engine out of balance-The pulley on a honda is not a harmonic balancer.

*I did lots of research and couldnt find a real reason not to run a lightened crank pulley.

I run a 1.5lbs one on my d15. It revs to 9000+rpm. 2 years and 100+ passes with no issues.

ctr pulleys are solid metal where as a shaved pulled would still have the harmonic dampener ( it has rubber in the middle.
you wont feel the difference.

oh and if anybody does shave their pulley make sure to have a machine shop re balance the pulley (on its own) btw this is the same idea as balancing tires except they will remove weight by drilling holes from the heavier portion.

i think i spent $80 on the labor.

I've been happy with my shaved pulley from here:
http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=1810330

The CTR N1 is not dampened... its no better than getting an aftermarket one from UR.

Fluidampr makes them for B-series with dampers.

damn, so shave or not to shave, that is the question lol... i'm just doing a maintenance/rebuild on my motor because i have rod knock. and im taking the motor out to just ALL the bearings as opposed to just the rod bearings. and in the process i wanted to spice it up a bit, lightweight pulley, lightweight flywheel ( still have an ls transmission) and a clutch. along with new front and rear main seals of course. it only has 65K so i dunno if ill replace the rings but if i do i might as well change the pistons too
