hey guys,
whats the general opinion of having those cams installed? good/bad?
they are a little more aggressive than ITR cams on the intake...
Would springs need to be changed from stock B16A springs? what about general tuning in the ECU department? VAFC capable of doing the job??
any advice would be appreciated!
thanks

vafc will get you by. won't see the maximum potential of the cams with it. you will be ok with the springs as long as you remain responsible with the rpms til you find more info with the spring rates and lift rates.
I have a JDM B16A with a CTR intake camshaft and a GSR exhaust camshaft. I was told the same thing about the stock valve springs and retainers. I have no idea how high the stock valvetrain will support the cam but I recommend you upgrading them. I went with a used set of ITR dual valve springs and Skunk2 retainers. But even with my stock cams and no rev limiter I've *accidentally* gone to like 9200ish a few times misshifting...lucky maybe? Do it right the first time and upgrade the valvetrain. I haven't gotten mine tuned yet. I thought it was a good upgrade from stock at the time, but am now craving for a bigger cam. I don't know how you'll feel about them after a while of having them in.

cheers boys.
do you think BLOX valve springs are ok to use? they say they are perfect for stock and aftermarket cams - considering CTR cams are stock in a B16B... is it good? Or should i look more at Skunk2 or something like that?

really all depends if you like to tap redline everywhere you go or if you just float around in it and casually like to feel what you got responsible. two differant aspects there.
92+ stock B-series valvetrain can handle up to about 8800rpm before valve floating occurs. Although, I've ran up to 9000rpm (on buddyclub cams) numerous times with titanium retainers + full ITR springs while road racing when I use to have a B-series. Nothing bad has happened. B16's can easily handle high revs too.
CTR cams are the best B-series VTEC OEM cams before moving into a more radical aftermarket camshaft.
A CTR intake cam's profile has 3 degrees more duration than an 96-97 ITR intake cam.
The 00-01 ITR's use a CTR intake cam and the way to tell is by the dual engraved rings on the end of the camshaft as seen here:

So look for these markings when purchasing a used set.

how much performance is noticable if i purchased and installed a CTR intake camshaft and a GSR exhaust camshaft in my b16a. or is it worth it to just save and buy some skunk2 tuner series cams. replacing the springs and retainers wont be a problem but i want to try to avoid redoing the whole valvetrain (at least for the time being).
00-01 ITR cams are the same as CTR's. i have 01 ITRS in my stock gsr head i take it to 8500 everytime i run it...havent had a problem yet and its been a year..not sure if a jdm b16 could handle the redline of 8500 but im sure you can take it to 8100 with stock valvetrain
YES - that is a 00-01 US ITR intake cam.
I have a Jdm B16 and I added the 00-01 ITR Cams... I Still have the stock valve trane... The car is running on a Chipped P28. The only Noticable difference is in VTEC... around 6000 RPM on up to be specific. I've had them in my car for over a year with no Problems... I still retain an 8100 RPM Redline which I have hit 3 or 4 Times with no Problem. Good Luck, hope this helps.

the 00-01 ITR cams come from the 00-01 Itr's. Gsr's can be from 94-01
you might as well just by 00-01 ITR cams. intake and exhaust. they should be no more then 300-350. i bought mine for 280 shipped..just look around
True, I have CTR cams Intake and Exhaust on my B16a JDM, so Far I had them for about a year and no problems ( Knock on wood ). I usually don't go over 8000RPM because I don't race. Over all good upgrade!!!!
don't be skurred to rev past 8K..."R" cams and stock b16 VTRAIN can handle up to 8600rpm no problem.
