Default Motor not running at normal temperature

For some reason, the temperature of my engine runs at different temperatures when I'm driving around. It'll fluctuate even if I've been driving around for 10+ minutes. Just seeing if anybody knew what could be the possible problem and ways I could go about to fixing it. Thanks so much.

I have the same problem, I know I need to change the thermostat, but I am low on cash. Will this hurt the motor?

Potentially yes, if the thermostat is stuck closed, your engine will overheat causing damage, depending on how long its like that.

Running too cold is definitely not ideal. Not sure how much damange could occur...

I just had the same problem. Mine wouldn't warm up, even after a lengthy drive it would only warm up about half way. Just change the t-stat out for a new one, OEM is cheap. Now mine is nice and toasty after just a couple minutes!

I'd advise you to replace it soon. At least get one from Pepboys for $13.

Im ordering it tomorrow. Mine gets up to temp when it is warm, when it is cold it runs a little above the first mark. It usually fluctuates though. Thanks for the info.

If it runs colder then normal that usually means its stuck open, not opening all the way the motor will run hotter then normal. Another thing is when is your fan kicking on at? It may be possible that you have a spoon fan switch which causes the fan the fan to kick on before normal operating temps.

It never goes over normal temp. It is usually way under. Today was nice sunny weather and it ran normal except that it took a while to get to temp.

hey sorry op for thread jacking, but I am having the same problem, my temp will rise fairly quick to a little over 1/4 mark when it is idling then it will lower when I start driving. I just changed out my water pump (because it was leaking from the weep hole) and my bottom radiator hose gets warm, is this normal??

I am not sure about the fan. I will have to check. I ordered a new thermostat for $23 it is OEM Acura part. If that doesn't work then I will investigate further.
