Transmission Woes
My friend has an 01 lude with 104,xxx miles on it and lately the transmission seems to have some issues. I drove it and this is what is going on, when the transmission is cold it shifts just fine but is a little bit notchy. Once it warms up however the 1-2 are smooth but 3-4 and esp 5 are hard to get into and you have to force them into gear. I thought it may be the original transmission fluid and suggested changing it and see what affect that has on the problem the clutch itself does not slip or have any chatter. Any suggestions.
I have the same problem with different gears. I've changed my clutch and all fluids, and no luck. I'm leaning towards synchros now, but it doesn't explain the cold/warm difference.
OP: Have you made very sure that your clutch is adjusted correctly, and is fully disengaging?
If so, and if you're using honda mtf as you should be, then yes, you probably have work syncros.
