I'm planning on getting some Crower 403's for my LS but I don't plan on changing my rev limiter so is it really necessary to buy their upgraded valvetrain set?

 

Yes.Ramp rates and lift determine if you need springs.

 

Get them, LS valve springs are so cheap anyway. I don't see a need for different retainers though.

 

What does Crower say on their site?

 

I know a couple people running the 403's with stock redline and STOCK valve train daily with ZERO issues. One of the guys, white98ls on here, autocross every weekend and probably has 30k+ on those cams and makes great power!

Well I see that Crower makes a kit with steel retainers instead of titanium so I'll go ahead and get those. I don't want Ti because I hear they wear out fast and you have to replace them occasionally.

 

i think the chro-moly steel retainers are for b-vtec not non vtec
