insurance rates for type-Rs?
I'm going to be selling the 97 240 between sept-november and have the choice between a couple different cars. I can't get a jap supercar since I called for a quote on a Supra Turbo and my insurance company told me they wouldn't insure me if I owned one (I have 15 points, damnit!).
95-99 Eclipse GSX
Integra Type-R
EK Civic w/ H22A
240SX (not mine, S13 version) w/ RB26DETT or SR20DET (prob RB since I'm tired of the stupid *** SR20s)
Turbo Miata (dont laugh please
)
I make 12.50 an hour and I'm 17, so I don't pay any bills but insurance and loans, so I have a good budget (around $25k), but can't get a jap supercar
. I'd mainly like to know how the insurance rates for an ITR are since it's a limited production car. Anyone around my age let me know what your paying and if your the primary driver. I know alot of people my age (16-23) with Supras that are paying $250+ a month for insurance, I don't want to EVER pay that kind of crap. I'd like to know what some of you pay, thanks!

Edit: I figured out why now. Sorry for the stupid OT question.
to me.
By the way, insurance will be insane for you. Your best bet is to get some quotes from the insurance brokers.

HA!
250 a month is not that much in NY.
When i lived in Fl my car was 1200 for the year, clean license expt for one acc. But w/o any acc it would have been 800 for the year.
In NY I would be paying over 6900 for the year, so instead I have it reg-ed and ins-ed in NJ and that costs me 3k for the year and also with one acc, if I had nothing it would be 2400
food for thought
If you have the nerve to complain about Fl rates the you need to have your head checked
(all rates are for full cvg and simliar plans)

HEY " Ideal R" nice sig. I love it... This reminds me of myself. But not with an R. With an INTEGRA in general. I always knew that one day i would own one. This was the car that i wanted and I GOT IT. I love INTEGRAS and i will never leave the side of one.
I'm 17, clean record, and I was quoted $269 cdn for insurance of a Type-R.....
17 years of age with 15 pts? WTF is that? My mom has been driving for like 34+ years and has only 1 speeding ticket and 0 accidents.....
Proves kids these days are "fast and the furious'ed out".......

good job not being a dumbass.
seriously.
Wow, your premium is so "cheap"? I live in Canada too (but in Toronto), but my rate is a lot more than yours. I am 21, clean record. Are you the principle driver?

I would go with a 4 door car. Your insurance will be cheaper.
2 doors or "sports" cars will be unaffordable from an insurance standpoint - I would seriously consider revising your driving practices - as you may be forced (from a cost standpoint) to take the bus instead.
p.s. I pay just under $100 USD/mo insurance for my Type R (no points obviously)

Every state has its own points system, so each one is different.
Most of the states have pretty good descriptions of their points system on their DMV website. This website has links to the DMV websites for all the states.

most tickets i have are 3 points each. Thats the standard. I have 1 speeding ticket, the rest are BS tickets. One is for following a fire apparatus, another is for spinning my tires (in the ******* RAIN!!!). I also have one for running a redlight since I was trying to get through it since I was running late to work, and some lady ran the redlight on the other side crossing, so I had to slam on my brakes and skidded through the light as it turned red. I nailed her (and she ran from the scene since she knows that it was more her fault since her light was completely red to begin with). I have stupid tickets, only one is for speeding, and I was going 48 in a 35, nothing major. Thats not even considered a speeding ticket where I live, it has to be 15mph or over to be speeding, I was doing 13 over so got off with 1 less point (3 instead of 4) and half the price for the ticket.
Maybe now you'll learn your lesson.
Shhh - don't tell anybody - but the lesson is: "Take every ticket to court and ask how they can handle it to keep it off your record."
The lesson is also: "If you already have points on your record, it's time to start using a lawyer who specializes in traffic court."

I don't know what you lot are whinging at. At 19, with no accidents or convictions i'd be looking at around $6000 a yr over here in the UK. At 17, you'd be hard pressed to get a quote, and if you did its unlikely to be under $10000. Insurance is really expensive over here. I've got a civic sr (same as a civic ex coupe) and i pay £1200 (about $1700 a yr) to insure that
