Default Anyone have trouble with AEM CDI?

We have recently installed the AEM Twin Fire CDI, AEM EPM, and the Pensile Coils on a 2001 Honda Prelude running the 30-1040 EMS. I had spark and got the timing to sync, but the car will not start. Also, it blew the fuse after trying to start the car for about 10 minutes. The heavy red is hooked right to the starter and the black to right to the battery ground. Now the 2 light red are wires together on the same 12V switched power coming off the EMS. I have checked the other wires for proper connections, but I do not understand why the fuse would blow. Any ideas?

Wires get hot/continuous starting/fuses blow

Got to give it a break, cant keep the starter turning over or it will over heat.

How did you get spark and get the timing to sync? just turning it with the starter i assume?

I had one hooked up the same way with the two reds spliced together, make sure to have the inline fuse they sent with the CDI inline with the + to the box.

Did you set up the EMS to run the coils? http://forum.aempower.com/forum/inde...c,23518.0.html

I pulled the plugs and hooked the timing light to #1 cylinder with a jumper wires from the pensile coil to plug. This way I could hook up the light. I turned deactivated the fuel pump with the EMS. We turned the motor over and adjusted the timing inside the EMS until the marks lined up. Yes I setup the EMS according to the specs that were stated on the EMS form, the same link that you have posted. I have the fuse in line with the heavy red wire.
Also, I you look at the link you posted and read the wiring schematic; it does not state the same wiring hookup as the manual that comes with the Twin Fire. The schematic shows the Pink wire running to coils 3 & 4 and the Tan wire going to coils 1 & 2. Now in the manual is says that the Tan wire hooks to coils 1 & 3 and Pink to coils 2 & 4.

If I remove the AEM EPM from the system and install the stock distributer, do I have to modify it in anyway for the Cam/Crank signal? I know that I will have to change the setting in the EMS, but do I have to do anything with the ingition phasing?

Ya i threw the AEM **** away and put a MSD ingition on it. Its runs great without any trouble. It took about an hour to compelte, start-up and drive away.

So tell me why there are all the problems with the units failing on the EMS form? I understand that people are running this on there cars, but I had 3 boxes fail right after syncing the timing. Each time a revived a new box it was a different revision then the last, which tells me that they keep having problems and making changes to fix it. After the 3rd time, I was not going to waste my time anymore. So I went with the MSD and have been driving the car for almost a year now.
