Default S2000 at 80K miles.

Going to look at a local S2000 with 80K miles on it on Friday. They are selling it for 12K which I am guessing is a pretty good price. Anything particular to look for? What stuff starts needed to be replaced at or around that mileage? I want to fit routine stuff into the "can I afford this car" budget.

Thanks guys.

two things ive done. timing chain tensioner and valve cover gasket. tct and valve cover both easy to do. parts cost 40 for vc gasket set and tct about 140. both new from honda. other than that just be prepared to buy tires. if you drive like me.:burnrubr:

I know the S2K is expensive to mod but I am ok with that...

No matter how much money I pour into my Civic Si I feel like it always needs more. Until it is making like 250 WHP I will probably always feel like that. And even then it is still at the mercy of its chassis and such in terms of potential. I know the S2K is a proven track car/ bad *** to tune. I would be ok driving a stock S2000 around until it is paid off as opposed to driving my civic SI.

They are listing it a 12000 dollars for an 01 with 80XXX miles but I am going to work with them and hopefully get them down to 10500 or so. I'll let you guys know what happens!

S2k's aren't that expensive to mod. Maybe comparitivly to a civic, but I came from the BMW/Audi world so everything on this car is cheap for me. That said my car is nearing 90k soon and it still runs like a top, like anycar if its maintained and not beat on it will run forever. Take it to a dealership and get a PPI (pre-purchuse inspection). The $200 could be saving you $5k if there are some bent valves in there. If you can't afford $200 then seriously rethink if you should be buying a $12,000 car.

The value of S2Ks have really tanked over the past year. I picked up my 04 with 67000 miles for 16 last july, and I probably can't even get 14K for it now. It's been only 8 months...times are tough...but good for the car buyer...

That's true, everything has been bad. If you can afford the gas, trucks are really cheap too right now! But who wants a truck, right?

I do, I bought mine about 3 months ago, got an amazing deal. I'm thinking about trading it in for a wrangler.
