Default Resparking this relationship....

I've owned this 1993 Civic Hatchback Si for a little more than a year now. I have done the usual things an 18 year old will do to their cars. Wheels, suspension, little of this and that. No engine swap or boost cause I can never save enough You get the point.

Lately I keep finding myself day dreaming about owning different cars. I like the car for what it is but I seem to have lost interest in it by now. I don't feel like spending a whole lot more money on it, besides the usual maintenance stuff. I just wanna see who's on the same boat (meaning losing interest in their car) and what tips i can get to respark this relationship without dumping more money into it. LOL

Or maybe I just need some sleep right now

And just for reference...

car looks great! i've been where you're at w past cars i've had & it'll go away. you dont have to dump a sh!tload of $$ into it, but small things here & there will keep the spark going. like adding a cf hood, trunk, maybe seats, a steering wheel, some engine mods(it is an Si after all). dont do it all at once, but over time. when you add something new, it makes you enjoy you're car more. its the little things

maybe not wrong section after all lol.... thanks guys for the tips I would spend more money on it, but I always tend to think about the things that my car isnt.

I complain how the plastic pieces rattle and how the seat is uncomfortable and I don't even have power windows... these are the kind of things thats getting to me to change my mind.

all those complaints are MINOR & FIXABLE. its a Honda, not a Mercedes...& its a '93 at that. you have any idea how many people would go crazy for a Teal EG Si? give it a good detail for the spring(inside & out) & you'll enjoy it after that.

I got my car back in high school and i dont drive it very often now and i still love beating the **** out of her<3

definitly give her a nice detail in and out and go take her out for a spirited drive.
theres a lot of cheap small things that can make a car look 100x better as well.

As someone already stated, let it sit a few days... drive a crappy car and then come back to your Civic.

i'm in the same boat as you actually. exact same car too haha.

for me, the major reasons behind me keeping my car are finanical reasons; it would be better to keep my car vs go in debt or empty your bank account. you might want to keep that in mind if it applies to you.

i would say though, work on the interior. nice steering wheel, single recaro seat or pair, integra dash, wrap panels, sound system etc.

I can totally relate. Sometimes especially when driving the car daily you just get tired of it and annoyed with it's small flaws. I can vouch for letting it sit, when you get back in it's like the first time you drove her........ and does your user name mean you ride???

I totally agree, everyone has made some good points here. I find that doing small things like changing the valve cover color or buying small things, whether performance or cosmetic sparks more interest for me.

But on the other hand, this is probably why most people end up selling their projects once its complete so it only lasts for a short period.

I thing the best thing to do is what a few people mentioned, don't drive it for a few days You'll miss it.

I had mine "on the market" to sell it, then I woke up one day, and fell in love with it again.....and proceeded to order a turbo kit.

borrow a friends truck for a couple days, after putting gas in a truck and driving around 10 feet off the ground, you will be thankful you have a hatch.

Car Looks Really nice Dude.... Everyone is Bringing up some very good points... I'm gonna have to agree with everyone and say let it sit for a few days and then hop in it.... I am fortunate enough to have parents that dont mind letting me drive their vehicles.... There will be some weeks where I wont drive my car for 5 days then I hop in it and Bam.... Having a blast driving it.... Yea it squeaks yea it rattles yea it has a few flaws but thats what makes the game so fun... Plus any other car that has the same problems whether it be a BMW or Mercedes etc.... Its gonna be expensive to fix and they get boring.... You'll reget selling ure car TRUST ME..... Just keep it and add a few small things here and there. Good Luck dude.

thank you everybody for their input! seems like everyone is telling me i should let my car sit for a couple of days. I do know this feeling as I went on vacation for like a good month and a half to china last summer and I missed it like crazy while I was there.
I would lose sleep the night before heading back just cause I know I will be able to drive my car again hahaha

I also experienced this while it was snowing here and I was forced to drive my grandma's 4runner for a good 2 weeks or so. Driving the 4runner was like manuevering a UFO since it was so damn high off the ground! So when I finally got to drive my car again, I did indeed smashed through the gears and rev-match downshifted like there was no tomorrow hahaha and it was a great feeling.

My car has also treated me very nice since the day I bought it, the only major thing or two I had to replace was the passenger side axle and the clutch master cylinder (easy stuff). I know people having problems with their car all the time, so I should appreciate my car even more. Once again thank you everybody, I think I know how to deal with this now. I'm going to make a to-do list for the little things and do it when the weather gets a little better.

i just chimed in to say... sweet hatch!

detailing the engine bay sparked my love back for my rusted out beat-to-shiet-falling-apart EF, everytime I popped the hood and everything was sparkling it almost gave me a woody

Your hatch looks good. Don't sell it till your sure..its what you want. but take everyones suggestion borrow a car for a few days...then drive yours.I know you said you don't wana put alot of money into but maybe trying the marketplace or your local forum or maybe even ebay(e-gay) for something new for your hatch. As car guys(& girls) we love getting new parts for our cars. Try that if all else fails. I think you will regret selling it later on.

If you are like me. You can't do **** to respark some love into a car you are tired of. Ive been through 3 cars in the last year.

But here are a few things that always made me love my cars, it's the little things you do, like cleaning, chaining oil, cruising.
