Default When to swap out motor?

I have a 93 Si hatchback with a stock d16 engine in it. One of the coolant hoses exploded on Saturday and I took it to my friend's shop and I'm debating on whether or not it would be ideal to just invest in a motor swap.

My engine already has 165k miles on it. I got the timing belt and water pump changed probably 6 years ago when something similar like this happened.

If I have to do that again, on average I'm looking at spending $500-$600. I'm wondering if it would be better to spend that money on a new engine instead of paying that now and then 6 months to a year from now my engine dying completely.

Any thoughts on this?

I would probably get another d16 or depending on the price a b16 installed.

if you get another d16...keep yours til somethin major happens. you could get someone else's shitty d16 and your in the same boat...maybe even worse. if your doing the b16 tho...go for it.
