Icon2 How to install ignition lock assembly? Heellpppp

I've searched. I am sure it's fairly simple. My car was almost stolen last night. The main assembly is dangling there ( the ignition switch and all). I'm thinking all I need is a new ignition lock assembly. About 85 shipped on ebay. Is there a how to on this anywhere so that I don't mess anything up? Also, is there a way to keep my OEM key as the starting key? Can I take out the OEM lock cylinder and put it into the new assembly? Thanks for your assistance.

I dont think you can switch the actual key cylinder. But as for installing it its pretty easy. Just remove the plastic covers. The old ign switch is bolted onto the steering column with special bolts the have to be drilled out. After that its just a few screws and harness plugs. Its not that bad using a separate key for the doors and ignition. Plus the new one comes with a couple new keys. My old key cylinder wore out to where I got stuck in a parking lot because I couldnt start the car and almost broke the key off trying to turn it.

Yeah I found how to replace the assembly itself. Those "special" screws for the top mount look like fun. No other way to remove them aside from drilling?

I wish there was a way to keep the old tumbler and whatnot to keep the old key but I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Hey, I'm going through the same process now.. there sure is a way to remove your old tumbler and install it onto your new cylinder, see this post for more info:

Yeah, I forgot about this thread and should have updated.

I was able to keep my same key and all is well.

Thank you.

If you give your vin to Honda they can order you a ignition that will will use your original key. If you order one off ebay make sure it comes with a key.
Its not hard to put on. To get those bilts off you can dremel a slot in the bolt head or use a chisel to make a slot then tap it out slow with a flat head.
