jumped timing
okay my friend honda accord 1992 lx (nice car by the way). he call me and tell me that his belt jumped timing and he want me to help him so wht do i need to know to help him fix it. he say the belt is not broken its just real loose. as he say he think it need tightned so can yall tell me similar problem or belief that might be wrong.
not too difficult of a job to do, take off timing belt cover, loosen tensioner screw so belt tension is loose, then make sure crank and cam are both at TDC, tighten timing belt back onto correct cam teeth. haynes manual for sure if you're not sure.
also, to check if timing did jump a tooth, align cam to TDC, then see where the crank is at, if the crank alignment is off quite a bit, then did indeed jump tooth.
since car is 1992, crank alignment mark will be on flywheel and not crank pulley
