88 Accord Alternator Removal HELL
Well it has come to this, i cannot for the life of me remove this alternator from the engine bay. The only way out is down and no way that i maneuver it can i drop it down without it hitting something. I removed the alternator mount and oil filter, they helped but no go. I thought maybe saggy motor mounts so i jacked up the engine from the oil pan a bit, didn't make a difference. I see two possibilities; one is to remove it out by the driver side wheel with the plastic splash guard removed, the other is to drop is straight down and remove the axel (which is in the way). Obviously i would avoid the latter if possible.
What have other people done with this, the book and any other resource i have seen is of NO help.
Thanks in advance ~Gavin
I've posted this in the classics also, i imagine there isn't much movement over there.

man what a poor design, thanks for that bit of info. Everything i have read simply says to unhook and remove, which obviously isn't the case. Oh well, why couldn't the alternator have died at the same time i replaced that axle?! Lifes a beach!
Well I should have mentioned that you will have to remove some things like the stock air box, but nothing major. I can't remember what else would need to be removed as I swapped to a B-series almost 6years ago.
