Icon2 96 ek turbo?

So I have a 96 ek hatch with a b18c1 and some upgrades. I am buying a greddy kit for a steal but I am trying to figure out what kind of numbers it will put down. The guy said that the kit is setup for 5.5lbs so I understand it wont be a huge increase but its a good starting point for my first turbo.

I have:
B18c1
OBD1 conversion chipped
APEXi VAFC2
Blox Intake Manifold
68mm Throttle Body
Hollowed out cat
2.5in. HKS Hi Power
Walbro pump
AEM Fuel Rail

I know that I still need some fuel upgrades but I am really interested in what everyone else would recommend for this setup as in turbo upgrades, fuel components, tuning etc.

This is my daily driver but I want to start autox so I dont need huge hp numbers but more reliable.

Also, my throttle body sticks like a champ, do all aftermarket throttle bodies stick because thats all I've heard.

Thanks for your input

If you have a chipped ECU, ditch the archaic VAFC. You wont need it. The same goes for the AEM fuel rail. That money would be better spent elsewhere. As for the fuel setup, i would suggest a set of RC550cc injectors (although you could get away with DSM 440s) and a Walbro 255lph fuel pump. That will be more than enough fuel for your goals, yet not overkill as to ruin drivability.

As for your goals with the Greddy kit. Don't limit yourself to the "5.5psi" that the previous owner ran. As long as your intake air temps are in check and you have sufficient fuel, you should be able to make ~240-250whp on that setup...don't consider PSI unless you have a stock MAP sensor. In which case, get a Motorola 2.5bar and forget about it.

One last thing, the aftermarket throttlebody really isn't going to help you all that much. The stock TB is going to be sufficient for the power goals you can realistically hope for with this kit. It's yet another thing you can toss in a For Sale thread in order to recooperate some money. Good luck

240-250whp is very realistic, if you want to open things up a little try a 3in dp and exhaust, step up to a 550+cc injector, 3-bar possibly and crank up the boost. I made 270whp on 12psi with a setup close to yours on a stock b16.

so is the greddy kit any good? atleast for a starting point because ive heard a bunch of people sayin the turbo is too small to get decent numbers but. is this true and if so, is the rest of the kit any good

Im running a b18c gsr stock internals. Pro series intake mani, aem fuel. Rail blah blah blah and full fuel system. Im making 261whp on 7psi you should easly get the numbers your looking for with a lil fuel upgrade and good tune.

so what kind of tuning system do you guys recommend? should i even waste my time with the vafc or no. i have a chipped 0bd1 ecu with a rev at 9500 and no speed, should i get hondata or something else? im runnin out of money so im hoping to get by with the vafc for a lil bit but i would rather not **** something up and spend the money

how are you going to get by with the vafc? just installing it won't do anything, the car still has to get tuned. Go with the obd1 ecu but don't think that the map on the chip will "get by."

oh for tuning systems crome, neptune or ectune are good budget systems.

Schister66: DSM injectors are 450cc not 440cc
To the OP: you should sell the vafc, fuel rail, and aftermarket throttle body and pick up some injectors (either DSM 450cc or RC 440cc+ will work), colder plugs and depending on if the seller of the greddy kit gives you some sort of ecu I would also get a new chip with a basemap for your setup and then get a tune

what all came with the greddy kit that you bought? with this information we can better help you figure out what all you need.
