Default Car died?? Distributor??

So I was drivin today and my car started to cut out a little, sounded like maybe a fuel pump or fuel filter, but it still ran, just a little choppy, no check engine light. Then finally it dies, so I push it home, by this time there was a cel so i jumped the ecu and got codes 71 72 73, thats a misfire in cylinders one through three. So i check everything and discover I have no spark. I just got her timed yesterday. Could it be the distributor?

sounds like the distributor

If anything, you can check it easily and make a diagnosis with multi meter

I checked and there is power to the distributor, but nothing past it. So i pulled it, but these things are a little ridiculous in price haha

i JUST got distributor fixed on my car. asked mechanics to look for a used one if possible and they managed to find one for $65 instead of the $270 list price. so try find a used one if you can!

-a worn distributor will not throw a code related to a missfire.

-a misfire in "x" cylinder, means just that....a misfire in the cylinder. it could be either the plug or the wire. the distributor is not located "in the cylinder".

-do not use used electronics. it just not worth it, besides at $270 you get a warranty. if the new unit burns up, return it. replace it.

why would you waste the money on a brand new distributor? if it a spark related issue, check the coil or the ignitor. but thats too late now since you've gone and bought one.

power to the dizzy, but not to the cylinder. it could be multiple things with in the distributor, or it could be the wire or plugs. like i said, its too late if he went and got one already, but idk why people would just suddenly recommend buyin a whole new dizzy. you could get out of it so much cheaper. (this is an over exaggeration but its like your rings are shot so you just buy a whole new swap.)
