bring it to autozone or kragens/checkers to see what code you're throwing. when you go into limp mode, you can't rev over 4k.

check your gas cap, if its not sealing, you fuel pump can not get the right fuel pressure=limp mode. While you are at it, check your oil level, that gets to low and the motor will go into limp mode. After you find the problem, with the key off, pull the ecu fuse from the box under the hood, this will reset your ecu.

The I-VTEC in the k20a3 is not much to brag about. You only have the extra cam lobes on the intake side and it "kicks in " at 2200 rpm....you see, the k20a3 runs on one intake valve per cyclinder till 2200 rpm and then the vtec starts using the other intake valve.....so if you drive a k20a3, vtec is kinda a bad joke.

I would think that resetting the ECU probably got rid of the limp mode, and would have even before you did all of the maintenance items.

P1259 is "VTEC System Malfunction." (According to a google search) I don't think the gas cap helped you at all.

Either way, all of the maintenance you did probably made it run better.

p1259 is a vtec malfunction...meaning your low on oil or something else more serious is wrong with the vtec system.
Changing your oil would do the trick, but you have to think why you were low on oil???
