Default big 16g on 11.5.1 com LS-R

Hello everyone,

I have a LS-R that I built up waiting to be put in my ef hatch and my bro decided to give me his big 16g off of his eclipse so I was considering adding that to my LS-R. I think the turbo has a 8 or 12psi internal wastegate on it gotta double check with him.

What I have on the motor
skunk 2 pro 1
68mm throttle body
blox intake manifold
supertech valve spring
p30 pistons
arp head bolts
arp rod bolts
new acl bearings, oil/water pump, valve seals etc...

I've talked to some people and they say its going to be all in the tuning. I'm looking to get around 300 give or take if I am gonna go with this. What are you guys thoughts on this?

Lsvtec people don't call them LS-R no more oh well. I am planning on using a log manifold, I found this one website awhile ago that sells a diy log manifold (pretty much you have to weld it yourself) that has all the tubes and flanges you need. But I can't find the site anymore if anyone know of a site or one like this please post a link.

My bro letting me have his Hans factory intercooler but I don't think it is going to fit so I am looking at the mushimoto intercooler. As for blow off valves what would you guys reccomend under $200.

I would think an LS-R would be an LS block with Type-R head maybe. But have never heard anyone call them that. And you can definately run 11.5.1 comp with a turbo. Just have to have it tuned on the money and at least 93 octane

it can be done, but i wouldnt recommend it unless you have a great tuner and def wouldnt recommend it with that log manifold

that would be interesting, I'll say that. It can be done, but that tuning has got to be DEAD NUTS ON, and I'd use race gas, but it would be interesting to see.

Would it be that much different than a 11.1.1 B18C5 motor? There are a bunch of turbo Type-R's running around on stock bottom end

Whats wrong with using a log manifold? It is affordable and a lot of factory turbo cars has kind of the same style and I think since it is closer to the exhaust ports the turbo may spool a little quicker right guys or no?
I also remember a couple of years back someone posted their car I think it was in Las Vegas that it was build and tuned, his compression was in the 11's also and had a gt35 and ran a 11's 1/4 mile.

I also heard that some people put or mix acetone with their fuel to boost up the octane since I only see 91 octane here in California.

As for type R motors with 11.1.1 comp and mine how much of a difference is .4 of a comp in boosting?

.4 comp and those big cams will make a difference, especially since those cams dont work well at all with a log manifold

a ramhorn, free flowing exhaust and a great tuner and it would work well

Don't bother with trying to make your own manifold. The economy sucks right now so cheap parts can be found all over the place. Check the classifieds and get a nice Inline Pro log manifold or get yourself a ramhorn.
