Default how big of a differnce will a dyno tune make?

i have a jdm h22a(220hp) and i just have a basemap on it. i was wondering how much whp i should gain with a dyno tune?? what should my whp be with a dyno tune? i am going to boost in a few months but i think its still a good idea if i get it tuned.

if you have an unmodified engine, a tune will do nothing. save your money and wait till you turbo to tune. no reason to spend your money on a dyno TWICE.

A tune will benefit a turbo *OR* NA build.

ok ok, i should edit it to say nothing *substantial*. honestly though, he's going to turbo it, so theres no point to get it tuned while its still NA.

Unless you build the internals and/or add a turbo, save the money on the dyno tune. Your not changing the cars performance that much with the I/H/E modifications.

i suprised no one has asked what ecu or where did you get this basemap? so if the OP could describe his ecu a bit then you would know if you really need a tune.

i got a p06 ecu and the basemap was put on by poor mans type r on h-t. the car runs good i was just wondering if i could make more power with a dyno tune. if i can pick up 15 more whp on a dyno tune i might do it cause i wont be boosted till the end of April.

april 09? tough it out dude, unless you know someone, a dyno tune isn't going to be the cheapest thing ever. as long as its running fine, wait till you boost, and then you'll have even more fun when you boost it!

actually bro a tune will do good for a motor that is not modified but when it is modified you seem to get more power out of the tune and also reliability

yeah man, im pretty sure most dyno tunes run 300+, i would just tough it out thats a lot of money for something that you don't really need now, but will need in a couple months, i mean unless the cash is burning a hole in your pocket just wait.

i hope your tune doesn't cost 300+ i had mine done for that on the F20b and its something most tuners have never played with so there is no basemap. he did it from nothing. it should be like $60-$90hr. another thing is that its just a basemap you dont even know if your making 220hp. it shouldn't take more than an hour for a tunner to clean up what you have they might even have one saved.

just wait til you turbo it. but if you cant wait and have the money to burn then get a tune. yes, tuning always helps. but you prob wont see that much of an increase in hp cuz you dont really have much done to the motor.

also to tune the motor you will need to get a tune hardware and software. hondata, chrome, ect. so will cost you more money. why dont you just wait til turbo and do it all at once?
