Default Brake problem...

Today while driving, I started to hear a really deep tone when braking. A low grinding noise... like a deem hum.

I replaced my pads AND rotors not even 2 months ago. I can't figure out why they're grinding. I took a look at the rotors in the dark and they look find but I'll check again tomorrow. Any ideas?

Btw, they're EBC pads with Brembo blank rotors. The pads squeal a bit and have been since about a week after installation. I'm more worried about the grinding than the squealing, though.

Possibly the caliper is stuck?

Caliper isn't stuck. The noise isn't happening today.

I'm having the same exact problem. I have 20K miles on my '07 Fit. I started hearing a low grinding noise from the passenger side wheel. I only hear it after driving for a while. I spotted a post on another Fit forum that reads like this;

"I have an 08' with 25,000 miles on it and I am having a problem with the brakes. When I brake there is a bad grinding noise that comes from the passenger side. I checked the pads and they are fine, my next thought is that the rotor is warped. Does anybody have an idea?"

I sent a message to the poster but haven't heard back yet. It would seem this is not an isolated problem. I'll keep you up dated, please do the same.

I have the same Problem on a stock 07, 10,000mi, grinding noise right front wheel. I think it may have something to do with the ABS system because it tends to happen when on uneven pavement. please stay on top of this issue. I visited the forum to see if anybody else has experienced the same horrible grinding noise. I have not taken the car to the dealer because it is extremely hard to duplicate, my concern is having a ABS type of problem after the factory Warranty expires. If anybody has had this problem fixed or hears about a secret recall or TSB please PM the members of the Forum. REF:http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f13ed76/9

http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f13ed76/0 Example #1 "I have been thrilled with my Honda Fit, however as soon as I got it i noticed a grinding sensation when braking. After the 3rd time at a dealership between my 2 states, a correct diagnosis was made and a new part was rush ordered. The anti-lock brakes were activating when they shouldnt due to a computer part.
My problem has been that it has been nearly 2 weeks in the shop with still no part. I waited to travel to see my new grandbaby and missed the delivery. Stopped waiting and drove the rental. The dealership paid for a rental but the only car available is a gas guzzling Nissan Tundra v8 that gets about 15mpg.
It seems that Honda cant spare the parts to repair the ones that are already sold because of demand to produce new cars. I am really bummed as I wait and wait. I don't know what options I have since this dealership is doing all they can. Any Ideas? Example #2 "O.K., my brakes did get fixed. There was a wheel sensor not working. Actually, that brake pedal was pulsating at times and grinding. It seemed to happen when I would just be pulling into a parking lot. Now that they are fixed, they never come on.
You might think it feels spongy but it was like something else was in control of my brake peddle...pretty obvious. After doing searches and reading about ABS brakes, I understood what was going on that caused that peddle to feel so strange.
I would get them checked on,though.

OK, Here is the evidence that there is a potential problem with the Fit ABS system. Please help get a part number. I already know that my local Honda dealers will deny any problem seems they do not want to help with warranty issues that are intermittent.

I don't think I should resurface new rotors.

The problem seems to have gone away but who knows if it'll come back.

The problem comes and goes on my Fit too, that is when the car is cold or driven a short distance. I can reproduce it pretty much anytime just by driving about 10 miles and heating things up. After 20 miles of stop and go it's there big time. I am a little comcerned about the post (2) above stating there is a problem with the ABS. I'm bring my car in to the shop mid week and will post update.

I never used those, eL. But after reading the description it states something about a "brake-in coating" for help bedding them in. My guess would be that might have been the cause of the noise.

I don't think that would be it because I've had them for over 2 months and a few thousand miles. That coating looked like a joke when I installed them.

I'm not too worried since it never happened again... yet. Hopefully it doesnt.

I had my 2007 Fit in the shop yesterday for the mysterious grinding noise. It was my brakes. They told me they have been seeing a lot of Fit's come in for unusually early brake jobs. Some with only 13,0000 miles. I have 23,0000 on mine so it sounds about right. Anyway...mystery solved, no big deal or expense.

sounds like you need snow tires. the tires that come on the Fit are not that good in snow/ice.
