Honda fit brake problem
Hello everyone,
My girlfriend has an 07 fit with about 65k miles on it. For the past month it has been making a grinding noise that sounds like the front brakes are metal on metal, but I changed the front pads and cleaned out the drums 2 months ago. About a week ago I examined the front rotors and they seem to be in perfect condition, along with the pads being in excellent condition.
I did not have the rotors resurfaced when I changed the pads, but like I said the rotors were in excellent condition without any sort of galling on the surfaces.
The noise seems to be getting worse with time, so I think I'll be pulling the pads out for a closer look tomorrow.
Has anyone had problems similar to this, or know what the cause of the noise might be?
I'm wondering if the rotors are worn past their minimum thickness, does anyone have that measurement handy or know where I can find it?
Any info/ feedback would really be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
MC

Re: Honda fit brake problem
Rotors out of limits should NOT cause grinding. Check for a stone or debris between the rotor and the heat shield.
Brake Disc Thickness: Standard: 20.9-21.1 mm (0.82-0.83 in.)
Max. Refinishing Limit: 19 mm (0.75 in.)
