QUICK QUESTION:: too much motor oil?
jus changed my oil last night and poured a little too much jus about half an inch passed the second dot on the dipstick and was wondering if it was really a big deal?? (lazy to empty little if its nothing big then its whatever) thanks
yea it can hurt but a little bit wont hurt anything but yes you need to drain some out,
Ya Digg sohc take 3.92 quarts with a filter, putting 4 in will not hurt your mototr at all,
that little of a difference will never ever hurt a honda or any car for that matter.

Let's be logical here. With anything designed by engineers or with reliability in mind, they are always going to allow for some margin of error to protect against accidents and user error. Rope rated at 100lbs may not break until you put 200lbs of weight on it. The little mark on your dip stick is a suggestion, and it's probably fine to go a little above it since when you drive up and down hills the oil settles different and people changing their oil may pour a little too much in.
yeah thumper64 is right. engineers come up with our cars knowing that maintenance will also be done by regular everyday people. so they do allow some slack!
you're probably fine
however, way too much motor oil will cause the crankshaft to sit in the oil in the oil pan, and the crankshaft will churn the oil, producing foam, which reduces oils ability to lubricate and the foaming will blow your seals. I don't think you added enough oil to cause that though.

its good. nothing is going to happen with that little extra oil. besides, oil has the tendency to leak.(atleast mine does) so a little extra will eventually be right on the mark!
You know what would have been nice of honda,to just make 1 more mark on the dipstick saying **** its to much, but i cant complain because i know better.
if you have vtec why care?? its gonna burn up some of your oil whenever you engage in vtec.. so unless you dont have vtec then I say drain a bit.. but then again its only a single cam right?
