Default Turboing My H22

So I have an H22 VTEC In a 92 Prelude. I have been reading up on putting a turbo in there, and it sounds like what I need to do is get it sleeved and get some different pistons in it. Is that all I would need to do besides a good tune? And how much would I be looking at for the work on the bottom end?

Depends on how much power you want. If you just want 300whp Darton sleeves would be fine, plus some good rods. Built by a rep engine builder. But if you want more power skys the limits. You need to do ALOT of research on this or you will just waste your money. Its not just bottom end. Its head, valve train, tubing, WG, BOV, intercooler, Computer and turbo. Just for a bare bones turbo you could spend 5k. So do the research.

I'm nearing the end of my turbo project.. I thought I would spend in total like 4 or $5000, but in reality its close to 8 lol. To be safe, double whatever you think you're going to spend. For a turbo you will want lower compression, stock comp on our motor is 10.5:1, I went down to 9:1, and yes this can be done by getting low comp pistons.

OP i think you should stick with n/a until you at least understand the concept of internal combustion in your H22. don't go fast to try to impress others, i'll bet right now that you aren't ready to take a turbo'd car to it's limits.

yeah, I agree ^ Buy a p72 & hondata setup and get yourself some cams and a real header (vibrant, hytech, or the new TriY)

If your dead set on Turbo, You could get a Turbonetics Kit and run it on Stock Internals on 7psi. The kit is about 3k and you will be pushing around 250whp which is just enough for a nice street car.

My Advise, take it or leave it, Get some Cams, A Good tune with Hondata, And pull your transmission and add a LSD & Final Drive Gear.. and a ESP Traction Bar System.

You will gain more from that setup than you will from just adding a turbo. Power- To- Ground For The WIN

obd1 h22a's have a closed deck, so theres no need to resleave if you go and buy some mahael or weisco pistons with FRM compatible rings.

and really the pistons are actually strong, you could booth 14 pounds if you drop the compression and buy new rods.

the rods in an h22 will go before the pistons go.
