Looking for better mileage?
Just talked to my sandpaper supplier for the shop and he noticed a 1.5-2mpg gain when he switched over to running the amsoil synthetic motor oil. I hadn't seen him in 6-8 months but had told him to try it and he thought I was nuts. That was the first thing he told me about. Just wanted to pass this along.
I didn't sell it when he put it in I was running it my accord at the time with the same mileage gain. So I told him to try it and he ordered some from a guy in the town he lived in. he tried it liked it and thats all he runs now. I signed up to be a dealer in nov. I put the amsoil full synthetic in the car at 14k it now has 34k on it. If you don't think it works try some mobil 1. I don't sell that you can get that at a lot of parts stores. I just saw first hand this works. This is why and when I became a dealer after running it multiple cars and truck. My dad did the motor oil an gear oil in his motorhome went from 6mpg to 8.5mpgs. I just thought I would pass along some money saving info. You don't have to buy anything from me just try it then judge it. Thats all I am saying. I sell the stuff because it's what I use I sell it at my cost and just earn the comission credits for it. I am not trying to make a living off it. Just get my oil at a good price and make some gas money.
Paying $8 a quart to gain, at most, 2 MPG is not worth it.
I'll gladly pay for a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 at $23 and hypermile my way to the 2 MPG gain.

Well, depending on what weight etc you run dealer cost of amsoil is less than 8 bucks a quart shipped to your door. It's a better grade of oil than mobil 1. Don't get me wrong mobil 1 is good oil. I just know from experience the gains from using the amsoil. I would just advise people to be careful with royal purple as I have heard some bad new using the stuff with many different vehicles. There are a few different grades of synthetic oil. and the RP is the low grade. Was that 23 botte a gallon or 5qt size didn't see that anywhere yet. Was it blended or full synthetic? Was looking at kragen and 5-30 runs 6.99 a qt. Just wondering what it was you were looking at

Brag about how awesome some oil is per your "sandpaper guy" and just happen to have a link to it in your signature?
Then talk about how you're not trying to sell it but drop the "I'm just trying to make some commission blah blah blah and "save you gas money"
Please.
Note it's against forum policies to do what you're doing in this thread. Promote a product you sell without being a forum sponsor?

That's what and where I got my oil.
When I first saw the title of this thread I thought some one wanted better gas mileage and drove an accord. Can't really beat that unless you go civic or fit.

Well sorry I just found a site because i had some questions on when to service different aspects of my accord because the owners manual didn't cover when to change the fluid on the manual transmission. So I thought this would be a good place to sign up and learn. I just wanted to pass some info on what I had learned when my MIRKA sandpaper regional manager stopped by to say hi see how things were going and thank me for recommending him to use the amsoil in his civic because it actually did improve his mileage. If people actually research the topic and learn about synthetics and why they work well and would make better sense to you. I have contacted the forum on how to become a sponsor on here but have yet to hear back from them. I read the rules it stated 1-2 lines and a link to your site is ok but not the best. I am still waiting to hear anything but I did contact them. Would I like everyone to run amsoil and buy it from yes, but I know that will not happen. But if more people try it and gain mileage even if they use a different brand then they have atleast learned something from me. I may have just signed up on here because I thought this was a good place to learn and also help people learn about synthetics. But I guess since I have a link to my website all I am trying to do is sell something. If you get to know me the last thing I ever do is sell someone something, I just show them the benefits of it and if they buy they buy if not I tried. Just research synthetics and see how they can benefit you thats all. But then again maybe this isn't a place people want me to be. The only reason I said amsoil and not synthetics is because I don't have any personal knowledge or use of mobil one in anything to know if it really gains mileage or not.
We all already know this.
Honestly, the only effective way for better MPG is to control your right foot. My (non-Honda) car have an instant MPG reading. I actually test this out. Both my wife and I drive normal. Wife would get 3 MPG less than I because I consistantly watch the MPG reading.
It's takes some time to learn, and it has nothing to do with driving slow or granny style. It all about pressure on the peddle, and understanding shift poiints of your trans vs MPH is the best way I can describe it.
If I turn the instant MPG off, I'll loose 1+ MPG. But still better than my wife. Getting that extra MPG is almost not second nature.

^True. Feathering the throttle doesn't help either. When accelerating, wide open throttle (decrease friction from the throttle body) while short shifting. The quicker you can get to cruising speed in the highest possible gear the better for fuel mileage. Once you get there, keep your foot steady. I gained 1.5-2 mpg this way.
