Default 1999 Civic LX

Hello everyone!

I just got a 1999 Civic LX, for free. It has 188,000 miles on it and is in really good running condition.

I love it, but its pretty slow, is there anyway to make it faster?

get a new car.. you have 188k miles

you can spend hundreds on boltons and just change the sound with an intake or exhaust

to get any sort of speed, you need to invest thousands for a turbo or a new motor even

I would just enjoy that you have a good daily driver with excellent mpg

drive it til it dies, pull the motor and buy a b series

i did that with my lx

Truth x2. Try and keep the body in good shape too. Do any body work it needs, buy some wheels, suspension etc.

Not sure where your buying all your stuff from for thousands in a turbo setup.

OP, I had a buddy with a '96 DX with 170,000 miles on it and he boosted the stock Y7 and made good power with stock internals. He had all name brand stuff, nothing from china and only spent around $1000.

If I were you, I would probably start with lowering it and putting some wheels on it then start buying stuff for a good turbo setup.

This was my theory. I had my 92 LX since 169,000

pulled the motor at 184,000 i believe it was. About a year after i owned the car. Pulled it running.

Bought my swap from hmotors and went from there.

I didn't mod the b7 once. Why? That money could be used to something worthwhile, and the b7 is not. I didn't do suspension either first, why, i did want to be left in the dark, with a car that had great suspension but doesn't run at all. So i swapped the "heart and brain" out first, runs beautifully, then did the suspension. No problems today.
