Default 1985 Civic Wagon Opinions

So I have a opportunity to purchase a 1985 Civic Wagon (non-4wd), 5spd with 40k original miles for $1800. Body is in pretty good shape, minor surface rust here and there (hey, it's the midwest. No cancer), some dings. Interior is also in very good shape.

I'm going to look at it tomorrow and I'm looking for advice. I don't know much about these vehicles and my plans are to daily drive it till it's death. I'm mechanically inclined and very comfortable doing repairs myself and meticulously take care of all my cars. My only concern is having the joys of deal with a carb, especially in the winter.....

Opinions? Were these stout and reliable cars? Common problems? Parts still around? Ease of repair?

Good cars. Honestly, if you ditch the stock carb, remove all the vacuum garbage under the hood, and install a Weber 32/36DGEV it will be an awesome car. Redline makes the kit, I believe the last one I bought was about $325.

Unfortunately I found out the car has a lot more serious rust than I previously thought. Pretty cancerous, so my search continues!
