Default how much will I benefit from swapping an SI tranny?

I have a b7/z6 mini me. My friend offered to trade me his SI tranny for my HKS bov. I'm not going to be able to finish my other motor for a while, so I may just buy another BOV later. I looked at the ratios online and they seem pretty close. Would it actually help me that much? I'll hang off on trading the bov if its not worth it

Night and day. If the trans is good definitely do it. Basically your bolting on a half second drop in your quarter mile time.

I dont track my car. How would it effect my street experience? I've noticed that my car as it is has a hard time climbing the mountain roads in the area I just moved. Would I have an easier time with that or do I just lack the torque?

ya lack of torque but the shorter ratio would keep u at a higher rpm which should help get u over them hills

Iv had both, and as the other guy said, it really is night and day. Other than the little bit more power the Z6 puts out, the trans was a huge eye opener...really, its that much better.

Yes, its a z6 tranny, my current trans is a Dx. I guess I'll make the trade the next time I'm in Florida

i'm with the other 2 on the z6 would be better, it will be quicker for you on your street times.. it'll be a very good upgrade for you... I mean if you are still running your dx tranny..

Ok, I believe they were asking on the SOHC si tranny.. not the B16 tranny, but the Single Cam si tranny has the same gear ratio as an ex tranny.. they have a 4.25 final drive.. The Dx and Lx have the 4.05 final drive in them...

but on the B series Si tranny...
The B16 Si tranny has a 4.40 final drive.. the USDM type R tranny is the same tranny that the Si has in it... the JDM Type R tranny has a 4.78 final drive in it..
