Default A few questions

firstly, does anyone know how much boost a garrett t3 super 60 turbo can handle, and secondly does anybody know if i'll be able to run a fuel management system with my automatic ecu?

thanks.

i personally wouldnt run boost with an automatic.. they wont hold boost.. i sparyed my accord with a 100 shot of nitrous and it destroyed the front pump and seal... needless to say im in the process of rebuilding with a 5 spd. and 18 psi boost..

The amount of boost that turbo can make is really going to depend what it is used on, the flow rate of that engine and the efficiency range of the turbo itself. That's not something i would worry about at the moment.

What is your setup so far?? By the sounds of it, it's an auto which makes me a little uneasy

it's the d16y7, pretty much stock, i've got a cai and exhaust and that's about it. it's a fun car to drive, and i personally don't have a problem with the auto tranny because it hangs with my friend's ex 5-speed pretty well.

although the majority do not run boosted automatic transmissions, it's not undoable. I have no idea why To4E says automatics "wont hold boost." That just sounds preposterous to me. Holding boost is controlled by properly working bov/bpv's, wastegates, and vacuum lines in most cases, not the type of transmissions. Powerwise, I believe I read that auto transmissions have a little tougher time handling the power, but considering the way you asked your question, I'm going to assume this is on a stock motor and therefore you won't be pushing enough boost to really worry about it. Then again, I can be wrong so correct me if I am. I use a garrett t3 super 60 with a .63 a/r and they max out at 325-350hp. If you're obd2, you will have to get an obd1 ecu from an automatic car. I forget which civic ones you can use but mine is a p06 which comes from a 92-95 manual civic lx. You will probably just have to get one that is from the same years but for an automatic if you want to run freeware tuning or hondata. Or you could spend 1500 for a standalone lol.

well i didn't see schister's post till after i posted but if he's uneasy about an auto tranny, then i would be cautious. He knows his way around a honda

i think what he meant by not holding boost is the added tq from the turbo causing the tranny to crap out early.

a trans that can barely handle stock abuse, then asked to hold boosted abuse? it wont be long for the world.

im planning on running the turbo with stock internals for a while, prolly around 6 psi or so, and then im probably going to do new pistons, rods etc. and turn up the boost a little. im not very knowledgeable about all the ecu swaps. lol. i guess i'll have to research some more.

Actually, my mom's 98 accord tranny just crapped out not too long ago. I forgot about that, so I guess they are pretty weak lol. Good luck on your reading and your build Townson.
