I have a 94 GSR w/ ABS and BRAKE light illuminated. I replaced the parking brake light switch and cleaned both of the front wheel ABS sensors, then pulled the backup fuse. That did not solve the issue. I am having a hard time understanding the code sequence of the MIL light. It flashes a little different from the check engine light. Any help would be great....I need to get my emissions done.

94-97 ABS CODES (thanks to JimBlake):

You pull these codes the same way you pull check-engine codes, but it's the ABS light that's blinking. Here's the sequence...

Insert the jumper, then turn on the key.
Long (2sec.) flash - long (2sec.) pause - this isn't the code yet.
Short flashes for the first digit of the code - 1sec. pause - short flashes for the 2nd digit.
Long (5-second) pause, then the next code.

There's NO long flashes, it's all short flashes with short & long pauses in between.

the first set of lights before the long pause is the first digit, count them (2), then second set of numbers after the long pause is the second digit, count them as well, (1). There you go 2-1: Parking Brake. Something somewhere is still worng with the parking brake. Dont really know if it matters, but is it an Auto or Manual tranny?

ok, i just didnt know if it may have had something to do with the Auto Shifter being in the Park position, but that doesnt matter anymore. Maybe you should try resetting the ECU to clear the code since you think you fixed the problem.

 

ECU backup fuse and the ABS reset fuse have been performed.

 

Any brake gurus out here?

 

does the fluid in the ABS pump seem to be at the right level?

 

mine is also doing this just came out of no where while i was driving
the only thing that i kno of on my car one of the brake lights are semi out but i dont think thats has anything to do with the light being on ima check all my sensors and stuff cause the other day i caught a plastic bag on the highway and it was all over my wheel when i got home and took off the pieces i saw left

 

I replaced the master cylinder cap and that cured the ABS light so far. The brake light still stays on even when the parking brake is not set. Although it does dim about half way when the park brake is not set. It appears that there is a short in the wire or the cluster.

 

ABS light is back on.
