integra type R engine codes help!
i got two engine codes on right now, one is 20 and the other is 67, i'm not sure what they are exactly, and the acura shop around here is a stick up a dogs *** for knowledge. just wondering if someone knew what codes these were and had a idea on how to fix them, any help would be greatly apprechiated
thanks
thanks
I recently threw a code 20 too. I think my alternator is bad. You can check yours by starting your car and then removing the negative battery cable. If the car dies, your alternator may be bad.
I had the same cel 20 code. Kenji told me it was a fuse. so i checked. looked under and the first fuse i pulled VOILA! blown fuse. replaced 7.5 and it was fixed. i forgot which one but it was middle row mid bottom reading on the fuse chart. ill take a look when i get home tonite.
Just check all ur fuses. find it and replace and ull be back up n no time.

Ok. here it is. I checked my thread.
"PROBLEM FIXED. I looked on under the dash at the fuses. Looked on the guide chart on the cover. Took a look at the best possible one and choose 7.5 ALTERNATOR SP SENSOR. Looked at the fuse and it was BLOWN. replaced it and now everything works again. GOOD CALL GUYS.
Special Thanks to Kenji for prompt advice."

To prevent problems in the future... whoever is working on your car (you or a mechanic) should have a service manual to refer to. The Acura service manual is EXCELLENT (show it to people who work on other makes of cars and they'll agree). You can buy one here. It will pay for itself many times over.
The codes and the diagnostic procedures for each one are shown in the Fuel System section of the manual.

thanks for the info guys everything makes sense, so my cat must be shot, cause my car has been running a little rough latley, idels at like 1000 rpm aswell, apparently it had a supercharger on it before i got it and acura told me my ecu was screwed and i have to buy another one, but that seems like a scam so thats why i am looking into it. but i will check my fuse box, and altenator, and get my cat checked aswell. any other info will be great
catalyst system below threshhold is the code you get when you run a test pipe with your secondary o2 sensor screwed into it... Have you reset the ECU and the code comes right back? If so, you've got a messed up cat, but those things have crazy manufacturer warranties on them. Talk to the Acura service dept. and they should be able to hook you up. What year is your R?
it is a 98, and the cat was changed last year befoire i got the car, so obviously it is caused by the car running rich cause of my code 20, electrical problem i am having, once i fix that and get my car out of safe mode i will get the cat chaged so it is running clean and not rich.
If I can't find any open fuses what else should I check?
ya i checked every possible fuse, went over all the conections to the ecu, and wiring harness, vtec controller works great, ecu looks fine, i cleared my engine codes and the 67 code went away, but the code 20 stayed. My acura dealer keeps insisting that my ecu is set up for a supercharger still, but i find it hard to belive someone would have tampered with the ecu for a supercharger. will getting my ecu reprogrammed work. this is starting to really **** me off. i wonder if there is a way to get your car out of safe mode without fixing the problem, i can't stand it when my car won't run right!
