well just like any other engine out there. burning oil, oil leaking, tune ups, sensors but working, it all depends how you tread your car and keep up with maintenance

I beat the F*** out of my civic but i keep up with maintenance and my car is running like a champ

The main relay tends to go bad causing a no start.

If you're buying the car, check CV joint boots, trailing arm bushings, typical stuff like that.

timing belt replacement is the most crucial item...if the owner doesnt no when it was done presume it has not ever been done. If the car runs ok you just need to deduct the cost of the timing belt/water pump, cam seal and crank seals plus drive belts, and coolant job. If you don't replace it you could be looking at alot of money to fix it later unless you work on cars?..GL
