Default Transmission Jerking

First of all my 1994 honda civic ex automatic tranny has a jerking motion when im close to completely stopping..The only way to not to make it jerk is to make a hard stop. What should I do?Replace the tranny, if so what tranny should i get, i still want to have an automatic tranny.

How did you come to the conclusion that the transmission is to blame?

could be a broken engine mount causing it to jerk, take a look at all the mounts

Any automatic from any 92-00 civic should fit with minimal modification. Or you can swap to manual, which I've heard is not that hard either.

I've had a torque converter cause those symptoms on a 92 pontiac once. Which is somewhat transmission related.

You cannot use a '96 - '00 tranny, there are some major wiring differences. You can use either an M24A found in any automatic '92 - '94 civic or the A24A found in any automatic '95 civic. From the little experience i've had with both the M24A seems to be better. You can as others have stated rather easily swap in a manual.
