for injector to fit in?

im new to efi so maybe i mis-stated something.

im assuming that fuel rails are extruded rail with only the ends open to be tapped for fittings. what do you do to the fuel rail where the injector is supposed to go? i see there are special drill bits available but are they really needed. can a standard drill bit be used or does the fuel rail need or should be put on a end mill to be opened up where the injector will go or sit.

this is for a custom injector placement, not oem.

hopefullly i explained my enquiry better.

i dont see why a common drill bit wont suffice. just clean up the hole for any burrs and such. for the ends you can just use a npt tap and then get npt - an fittings.
