Default Check out this turn down exhaust....

Check out this turndown exhaust. Summit racing has them with a 3" and 2 1/4 diamter. How loud do you think this will be? And would 3" be too large? I have JDM type R headers.

3" would be rather big. and about the loud part, count on it.

I would only recommend 3" for a forced induction application. 2 1/4" would be more along your lines, but you can count on it being rather loud.

Thanks guys. Will a 3" flange bolt onto a 2.5" flange?

go go to a muffler shop and have them make you a similar pipe using 2.5" tubing.

and bring ear plugs...extras

I was tuning my buddy's Vtec controller in his Civic hatch last night, he has a J-spec TypeR motor with a few bolt ons, including JDM DC 4-1 header into a dump exhaust just like that, except the resonator is a little longer, and it is incredibly loud, especially cruising at around 3-4k. It makes power, but you can feel it inside the car at all times.

if you must, get a 2.5" ES muffler or Magnaflow or Borla and run a straight pipe with a turn down tip. if you want magnaflow or borla you can go to muffler shop (check my sig) or get the ES muffler then go to a muffler shop.

I was at Pitcrew once and there was this red civic and it just moved 15 ft forward. That car was soooooo loud I did almost go deaf. I'm thinking of adding this to keep the noise down.

thats no good... just get a good quality straight through muffler for a resonator. i like magnaflow. and if you still want an N1 style with a turn down tip... magnaflow will work for that too.

yep, any of those will do... just keep in mind that the longer and larger the muffler is, the quieter it will be. i personally am using a 4" diameter 2.5" core 19" long round muffler for a resonator cuz the resonator sits underneath the car and I want good ground clearance... but if you plan to have one in back, you can go even larger. i would just go with an oval muffler myself since its all straight through anyways... oval just has more material to soak up the noise. (at least thats what it looks like)

Actually I was going to install my carsound cat back (because of the fumes ) and have the mini muffler attached right behind it. I'll post some pics when I get this done.

Check out this turndown exhaust. Summit racing has them with a 3" and 2 1/4 diamter. How loud do you think this will be? And would 3" be too large? I have JDM type R headers.

haha, looks like a Napa cherry bomb.
