Default misfiring turbo system?

does anyone know what this is? i was watching initial d and a lancer evolution III had this. from what i could gather it interrupts the boost so they can accelerate into corners faster? does anyone know? how does this system work? where can one be had? under what conditions would this be benificial to racing? thanks

It's called antilag system available function from AEM EMS. Makes the turbo spool quick but runs very hot on the whole motor/turbo.
