Engine starting when cold but not when it's warm
Okay, I've done research on this forum and on the web so hoping someone can help me
1994 Honda Accord DX
When it's cold outside, the car will start fine. When it's warm (after 10am usually) it won't. If I start the car and run it for a while it will start again.
Had an idle problem, fixed that by cleaning out the IACV and the FITV and sprayed some cleaner in the throttle body. Worked to fix the idle
So if I can't start my car, I try again while I press on the gas pedal to keep the 4,000 RPM and hold it there. It wants to die, but I can keep starting the car while holding the gas down and it finally catches. Once the engine is warm (after 2 minutes), I can slowly lower the RPM and it will run without dying.
I did buy another master relay from the auto parts store ($80) and tried taking mine out and replacing it with the new one to see if it will start. Same thing!
Had the water pump replaced and belts replaced a while back.
anyways.. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know...

While we are guessing at which parts to change, the next one will be the ECT, engine coolant temp sensor, it goes bad all the time and needs to be changed as part of preventive maintenance.
Also see if there is fuel inside of the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.

Thanks for the info, the car has been starting pretty good lately as it's been cold outside.
I got my manual handy so I will check to see where the ECT sensor is.
Does it get corroded or some way I can tell it's not working correctly?
I was also thinking it could be the fuel filter as the car has some miles on it and not sure if it's every been changed.

The manual should have a chart to show a graph comparing ohms and temperature but this only works if you know the temperature, that requires another hand held tester. Its cheap and its preventive maintenance, just change it anyways and it should last for years to come, keep the old one in case a friend needs a spare to test with.
