if you MUST drive it you can, but dont rev it past 3 grand, dont get anywhere near full throttle, and make sure you use high octane gas.

I would say yes, only cause or atleast i would think the only differance would be that at certain RPMS your Vtec kicks in. I dunno for sure tho.. Anyone else want to correct me?

because the fuel and timing maps are totally differant and as the compression (rpm) rises the potential for detonation increases and that will *** your motor

the maps at all rpm are differant because of the size intake/exhaust ports the compression ratio, manifold design and 100 other things.

Thats pretty much it.
I ran a P2E ECU on my y8 motor for like a month. It threw a code for too lean. And was also in limp mode for some reason.

So, You can do it. probably wont hurt anything substantially, But i wouldnt do it forever.

ya when I bought my car it had a P2E on it (97 EX). I didnt realize it for a month or so since this was my first honda i wasnt exactly sure wtf was wrong with it. Just that it was way too slow lol. So yes it will work, but u wont get great gas mileage and it will run like crap.

i have a vtec ecu with a non vtec motor mine runs fine has idle roll if you try to kick vtec in tho. i dont think you should run a vtec ecu with a non vtec engine tho.... cant be good

i have a p28 ecu i might let go of for the right price

I am running a chipped P06 in my car and i have the same exact swap that you are doing. Everything runs great but i have to run a high octane gas.

when i bought my 94 ex it had a z6 with a p06.
i drove it that for a few months (drove fine but no vtec, even over 6000+rpm), then modded the p06 for vtec.
since then i have gotten 2 p28's and 2 more p06's.
they all have same circuit board, 1720, and the same components except the p06's didn't have the vtec components.
there maybe other boards in a p06 but all of mine have 1720s.

cliff notes:
answer to OP's question, YES if its a p06
p28 = p06 w/vtec components

itll run just fine. no vtec, but whatever, it works. it wont detonate, the compression is low, the ecu can compensate for the differences

I have the same setup on my 93 civic and with the stock po6 non vtec it ran fine. But when I got the chipped po6 and connected the vtec it was a whole new world So drive it it will be ok or at least mine did fine.
