Won't Stay in 5th
OK people, i own a 99 Honda Civic and just recently swapped in a rebuilt B16a engine and tranny. The engine itself runs like a champ. The only problem is when the tranny warms up when driving i have to hold the shifter to keep it in 5th gear. All the other gears work as normal just not 5th gear. It has the right amount of oil in the tranny and everything. Im just wondering if i need to get the tranny rebuilt again since the warranty only covered the start-up of the motor. A friend told me to check it out on here first cause it could have something to do with the shift linkage or some other problem other then the actual tranny. Help me out here.
If I was you I would recheck the tranny fluid and just make sure, because Honda did this thing on the tranny's where if it is too low it'll pop out of 5th.. If you recheck it and make sure, and your buddy has told you that it was a problem with the shift linkage, then I would also check that out.. Now if both are good then something is wrong with the tranny... Just recheck everything to make sure..
