Default tranny problem

I just finished swaping in a lsvtec in my 92 civic hatch. Everything is running fine except the I am unable to shift into 3rd gear. All of the other gears work great and it drives fine except 3rd gear grinds really hard and it wont let me shift. My question is it worth fixing or should I just buy a new tranny?

Does it go in fine when you are just stopped at a red light? If not, check your shift linkage, make sure the rubber boot isn't all bunched up on the linkage where it meets the tranny. If it does go in fine, could be syncros, who knows. Change out you tranny fluid, try some GM syncromesh friction modifier, and see how it goes after a few weeks. You might need to get it rebuilt or if you want buy a new tranny.

first check the linkage for binding. sounds like the synchros are going or gone. try reving the engine to about 3500-4000rpm and gently push it toward 3rd as it revs down if it slips into gear you'll know the synchros are bad, it would probably be cheaper and quicker to buy a new tranny than have it rebuilt

So the bundling of the rubber thing between linkage and tranny could be the problem? If so then wouldnt other gears not go in correctly either?

I just drove my car agian today. Since third gear doesnt work I shifted directly to fourth gear. after I shifted to fourth my car speed up about 2 mph and then the rpm went down and acted as if it was idling. Since I have no O2 sensor hooked up would that not allow me to go any faster than 30 mph or shift into fourth and not go any faster?
