Default What Transmission?

I'm building my B16A2 and I'm completely lost with the transmission. So far my block is sleeved with darton 84mm iron sleeves, JE pistons skirt and top coated, stock crank, manley turbo tuff connecting rod, apr main and head studs, port and poslish head with skunk2; pro 1 cams, pro valves springs, valves, pro cam gears, and TITANIUM RETAINERS. This engine is also going to be turbo'd with high boost. So I'm looking at high horse power, I have the stock transmission and was thinking about building it with new gears and an LSD from MFactory but I'm not sure everyone likes the GSR and LS but I just don't know and I'm not good with transmissions yet so any help would be great. I would really like to use my transmissions and just build it but i dont know **** about this. let me know thanks
sorry for this being so long

ls trannys are great for boost. longest gears.
or itrs would be what i would go for,
but if you want to keep yours and build just talk to a tranny shop and see what they say
but i have seen people use b16, itr and ls gears in there trannys,

what do you mean by longer gears, the teeth of the gears are longer or you can stay in the gears for longer and build more speed?
thanks

by long gears he means in terms of ratio.

fwiw, i went 10.72 with a stock b16 trans. been 10.40 at 147 with a b16 1-2-3-gsr 4th shifting at 9400 on 25" tires. (dont ask i will be shifting alot higher this season)

you can use your stock trans with out any issues, plus with it being a b16 crank, it will work with the rev range you will have to be in because of the short stroke.

im sure he has a lsd or spool

you dont need an lsd, but the car will leave better and straighter.

old b16 setup was 540 peak with 300 tq.
new setup was 710 with the exh on it, we took it off and was way happier 490tq.

a spool on the street is a bad idea as it will cause bind on turning. an lsd will a better bet as it will allow you to turn w/o driveline bind.

at that power level the longer first gear of the ls may help you tame wheel spin on the launch. if you are looking at the m factory stuff, get up with antilag. he can better answer your questions.

spools are for track use,
both the wheels will spin at the same speed no matter what. turning, spinning etc.
i sure you know this but when you turn on the street your wheels spin at different speeds.
with a spool they wont. same speed all day all night.
im mean you could if you wanted to i guess, but i wouldnt reccomend it
with that you DONT have to have a lsd if you dont want one. but if your going to race you will want one.

yea im sure youd be able to.
now im not saying it will be bulit proof, just my 2 cents i would rather have the ls tranny cause of the longer gears but its up to you
they dont cost to much ive seen them on ebay going from 200- 1100
but maybe a jdm importer for less

you can, i will be getting a tilton flow valve, my setup is exactly this stock b16 1-2-3 gsr 4th, liberty cuff, stock b16 final and a quaife diff. im over 700whp trapping 147 at 28 psi. i have broken a 4th gear already. and replaced it with another stock 4th.

so yes you can use your stock b16 with an lsd. but with that power level you may need a longer 4th.

i get my tranny parts all new from the dealer. the liberty cuff takes place of 5th gear and helps hold the shafts from trying to spread under high load. if you look in the new products thread in drag forum youll see the one from phantom grip, same deal.

fyi even with the cuff, i still shreaded 4th gear.
