Default Always runs cold. Concerns?

Whenever i start my car and once it warms up the temp. gauge goes about halfway between the midway mark and the blue cold mark. It never goes any higher (even when i dog it :D) now could this cause any problems? I would think that might equate to slightly less wear?

This is usually due to a thermostat stuck open. I'm new to the site and not too familiar with the Honda's by any means but the problem you describe usually ends up being a bad thermostat stuck open on most vehicles.

kills gas milage. and will cause shorten engine life because its not running at optimal temps.

depends where exactly the needle is at, honda's are never suppose to go above or sometimes even close to the middle.

1/3 of the way up the gauge is fairly normal;
To be completely accurate and not waste money on unneeded parts, shoot the back of the head under the Dist. with an infrared temp gun.
200 degrees would be about right.

Verify it's at correct operating temp with either a radiator thermometer (looks like your Mom's Turkey themometer) or an infrared thermometer rated for 200Deg. If the T'stat is healthy you should be seeing 180 - 195deg. If it is, congratulate yourself / make a mental note and drive on. If it isn't, most likely the t'stat is garbage.
There's a reason manufacturers don't calibrate Temp Gauges, it leads to complaints like this.

I drive over 70 different Hondas per week and have never seen a properly functioning Honda cooling system deviate from a rough indicated 1/3 on the stock coolant temp gauge. The needle should rise to approximately 1/3 of the way up the scale while warming up and then stay there. If the needle is rising to or above the 1/2 mark, or is fluctuating at all while driving after warmed up, it means you've got a problem.

if your car is an automatic and it does not warm up

1. your RPMs will be higher since the torque converter will not lock up

the rest is true auto or manual

2. no or low heat output. Honda engines can roast you right out of the car even on the coldest days
3. loss of gas milage due to car being in warm up or open loop mode
4. death of your cat due to heat created by richer fuel mixture..

in my 94 LX, the t-stat was stuck partially open and the guage read 1/4 like it normally did but heat out was weak weak weak. once the t-stat was replaced, the car roasted me out easily
