I picked up this P28 ecu earlier today and forgot to open and inspect it before handing over the cash. I got home and popped it open to find some part scorched along with the circuit on the opposite side. I plugged it in and my h22a started right up. It seemed to rev smooth, and drove around the block with no problems and no check lights. I haven't attempted to get it into vtec or redline because I don't trust a stock p28 to run it.

Any ecu experts have an idea of what the circled areas are, if they will cause any problems, and if I should keep the ecu and socket it, or junk it and buy another?

Looks like q31
It is burnt because some one swapped the two wire plugs for evap purge solenoid & probably intake air temperature.

Replace the iat sensor & remove the q31 transistor.

The ecu will still probably function normal.

 

It does have Q31 written vertically next to it and R135 below it.

Would I need to replace the q31 transistor, or remove it altogether? Do you think running the ecu like this would damage any sensors on the engine, or is it more likely to just run like crap?

Just remove it, you won't need it.
The ecu should work fine.
