Default Driver side headlight not working (retrofit)

No need to mention the full setup, but I have a Hella / Philips Gen 3 HID kit with a CustomLightz harness.

The driver side headlight stopped working, and I already know that it's not the bulb.

So it's now either the ballast, harness (fuse), or ground, correct?

Could a bad ground on one side of the engine bay for the harness cause that side to stop working?

Thanks.

Either a relay or fuse. You might want to swap sides and see if the ballast lights on the other side. Did it flicker any? that is usually a lose ground

Didn't flicker at all.

It was raining like crazy last night when I was driving home from school. I noticed the headlight was out once I pulled into the driveway.

I'll be swapping the ballasts in the morning.

These ballasts have an internal fuse, it may be blown. Ground the ballast casing and apply power to the 12v lead, if it works the fuse is blown.

The ballast is the culprit.

Already ordered a replacement pair from HID Planet.

As a side question, if the fuse is blown, can it be replaced?

Im not sure, I would imagine so though. Open it up and find out. Ive never opened a Hella, only Bosch.

So you're sure the ballast is the problem?

I had a poor ground on my driver side relay when I re-made custom harnesses for my retrofit back in 2004, which caused my left side headlight to not work. I moved the wire to a better/tighter ground and it's worked fine every day ever since then.

Replaced the ballast, and it works fine now.
