Vtec spool selenoid.


Are there any remedies to this without replacing the entire vtec selenoid?

I've tried two, throws code with both. Kinda starting to bother me since vtec isnt engaging.

check oil level first. make sure its full. you may have a wiring issue. check the gounds

 

oil level is fine, grounds are fine.

 

Have you tried cleaning the screen?

There are two screens. One is between the block and the adapter plate (or whatever its actually called) and the other is between the plate and the solenoid. They can get clogged up.

To the OP, have you checked the oil pressure? I'm guessing the solenoid you have is actually good, did you run 12 V to it to see if it clicked? Did you check the resistance between a good ground and the pin on the solenoid? IIRC it should be between 15-30 ohms.
