Default torque arps to what on d-series

i torqued mine to 54ft lbs with oil and the box calls for a little less than that.

im getting an oil leak from the head / block right under the dizzy... no coolant leaking into oil or anything horrible like that but the oil leak is driving me crazy.

should i try torquing the headbolts down harder? my tuner said 60 ft lbs is his usual

we always torqued our d-series down to 75ft lb. only way to keep the head from lifting under heavy amounts of boost

oh dear god!

i got stuck at 16 psi and ran out of power, could the headlift be causing my motor to run out of power because of headlift?

Agree, but too much timing can cause head lift too.

how many times have you used the head studs? if its more than two throw them away they are stretched. we never use head studs more than 2 times, even if arp recommends you can we wont. Did you check the block to see if it is flat?

block and head were both checked by machinests for defects and flaws and were perfect.

headstuds are new.

im only running 2 1/2 psi, so i dont think timing would be an issue correct? during the summer at 16 psi is was pushing the same ammount of oil out.

and yes im getting coolant in the overflow when i romp on it.

its not coming from the dizzy its coming from where the block and head meet underneath it.

and yes, the oil seal is new

first off ARP states to tq them down to 60 lbs...not sure why you didnt follow the direction on the box or your tuner...

second i usually tq mine to 70 lb tq.

i say tq them down to 60-65 and come back with yoru findings...

cause i recently tq mine to 65 adn i was blowing coolant out till i tq them down to 70. Take in mind that i have used these same studs for abotu 10-15 times at 70lbs.

i torqued mine to 70 using ARP lube, not oil.

But I did it in three steps, in the correct sequence each time. first 25, then 50, then 70.

Is the gasket on the correct way? Only way I see it leaking oil from that area is if it is warped or the gasket material is not in the correct place (if the HG is on the wrong way)

Was your head and/or block milled at all? If there's too much off either of those, your dowels could very well be bottoming in their holes, and not allowing the head to make full contact with the block.
