HELP!! P28 ECU ..Does it have VTEC?
I need to know how I can tell that the ECU i bought is actually a p28 ECU from a 92 civic EX/Si w/ vtec. I know what a OBDI ecu looks like, but how can i tell is has VTEC. It doesnt have the sticker on the side that indicates is a p28 or are all 92-95 ECU p28? I just want to make sure i didnt buy a CX/DX/other
maybe i meant to say...does it have the VTEC sensor to kik start the VTEC solenoid on the enigine.. So is there any other way to tell I didnt just buy a CX/DX ECU?
there is a second sticker on the plug side.
also VTEC ecus have VTEC transistors, which are not present on the p05/p06 ecu. other give away is the position of the MPU (which is only different from some P07 ecus)

Check the serial bar....in the middle it will say P28....A02
IS A02 VTEC?

A01 might be automatic.....ive had two P28s from 5 speed 92 si....or maybe its newer....94-95? Not real sure, both mine said A02....even if its automatic it can be rechipped for manual I think...dont quote me on that one.
37820 - honda ecu
P28 - civic si sohc vtec ecu
A01 / A02 / A00 different verisions of the board, or simply for different states, year - makes no difference (A = USA)
A51 = (A=USA, 5 = automatic ecu, 1 version)
C01 and so on (C= Canada)

Thanks a BUNCH man- that helps out alot.
for you!!
Not full Vtec. Only B16, B18c, B18c5, H22 have full VTec.
D15Z1, D16Z6, B17 from 92-93 Integra GSR, D16Y, D16Y8 all have VTEC. Unless you're talking about some bullcrap explanation that only makes DOHC's "full" VTEC, but then you STILL MISSED THE B17.
Real helpful.

maybe FULL vtec to him means the ecu sends a little bit more VTEC to the motor, since all the VTEC comes from the ECU...right?! lol.

plug it up and pull it to 5200 dont drive around on it for long though .... you will run lean as hell .... but make sure of one thing hit "full VTEC" .... if not you will be missing half of VTEC ... meaning your VTEC is half full or.... half empty if your a negative person ... it all depends on how you look at it .... stay gold
