Default Vtec stuttering

swapped a B16b in about a month ago and no problems with vtec...changed my oil about 2 weeks ago and started noticing vtec stutter when engaged...from 6k to 8.5k rpm it goes stutters then goes...i though i may have an oil leak and there is no oil coming from anywhere that i can see...i saw this b/c i took a turn really fast that the oil light lit up...i check the dip stick and it shows no oil

not understanding what's going on...i'm thinking about going to put another quart in but any suggestions before i do this? i only say this b/c i blew my last engine engine b/c of too much oil (oil pick-up was bent)

VTEC needs oil to operate(along with other things) but if your low on oil, fill it back up. it'll work fine then.

are you sure the filter is on tight enough and its not burning off the block? my B16 always leaked at the cam seals but I never had a problem with low oil or the v tec engaging..

The oil has to go somewhere. Your either leaking it or burning it. If you've been driving around in vtec with hardly any oil you already did damage.

I'm usually only in vtec when getting on the highway...other than that i drive like a granny...i'm going to get a compression check and going to drain the oil to see how many quarts i have...there are no tell-tell signs of burning oil so i don get it

but i put a quart in last night and today there were no problems...but if i was that low then my oil light or cel should have came on
