Icon2 ? obd1 d16 in 88ee/ed sedan

Okay well the body work is about done and before we get this thing running i was wondering since the vss also controls vtec engagement, using an obd1 setup (engine/ECU) in my 88 civic, will the vtec still engauge with the cable style vss?? Will the obd1 ECU read this signal or do yous think i will have to install an electronic vss?

your stock one is fine. the gauge cluster converts the mechanical input from the cable into an electrical pulse which is then sent to the ecu.
