howdy fellas,

Got a 93 DA with a b18a1 in it. one day this fall the idle started to surge from normal(~800) to 2500rpm. and it does this continuously whenever it is out of gear. i tried changing the IACV, but no change.

do you think it might be the FITV?

i figure if it was a vacuum leak, the idle would just be high, not surging the way that it has been doing.

any ideas/input would be greatly appreciated.

most likely your idle air control valve, or maybe fast idle valve. did you use a new iacv?

 

remove the intake and put your hand over the throttle body if it DOES NOT choke out its a vac leak.
